As a teacher, I love to involve parents in the learning of a child.  There will be many opportunities for you to volunteer during the school year.  In both Lynn and Patty’s classes, I will need a spelling volunteer and a literature circles volunteer.  Spelling is a fairly consistent post, meeting during class time on Fridays.  The literature circle leader is a bit more flexible.  Please let me know if either of these jobs interests you!

There is also filing that needs to be done on a fairly consistent basis.  This helps us keep the permanent portfolios organized and updated.  It’s also a fun way to quietly observe what’s happening in class.

Field trips always need chaperones!  We’ll keep you posted on this.

There are many take home projects that come up during the year.  Stay posted for more information.

We are so lucky as teachers to have such involved, engaged and helpful parents!  Thank you!

    Gillian,
I really enjoy reading your blog. What a nice way to hear about classroom activities. I am interested in reading/spelling with students. I read with children last year in Krista’s class. It was a treat.

I look forward to meeting you.

    Best,

    Jeanne
